身為一位業務員，看懂數字是一件非常重要的事情，知道他們在英文中怎麼讀也很重要，這樣到國外招搖撞騙   做生意時就能完美派上用場。

 

 

英文與中文的數字系統很不一樣，英文是以三位數為單位，而中文以四位數「萬」為單位。

換成英文要怎麼說呢?

這時候就要先了解各個逗號代表的單字，順序由左而右，分別為   trillion, billion, million, thousand。

 

 

所以讀法就是，

Hundred 後面 (百位數與十位數之間) 可以加   and 也可不加，但   trillion, billion, million 和   thousand，也就是「逗號」，後面都不加   and。

 

1,001 可以加 and，變成   "one thousand and one"，是因為它其實有百位數 hundred 存在，只是百位數為   0。

當然，若只說 "one thousand one" 也沒問題喔

 

同理，1,050 為   one thousand (and) fifty

介於1000 至   2000 的數字，1X00，可以用 ”XX hundred”來表達，

所以上述兩個例子，1100 又作 ”eleven hundred”、1500 可唸作 ”fifteen hundred”。

 

1200 — Twelve hundred

 

 

超過兩千就不能使用hundred，例如母語人士不太會說   "twenty hundred"。

 

 

"One thousand, one hundred" 及 "eleven hundred" 這兩種說法在美國都行得通，若要再細分，

老美一般會這樣看：

 

若1100是一個編號  (例如號碼牌)，他們會唸 "eleven hundred"

若1,100是一個數字或金額 (尤其在銀行的時候)，他們就會說 "One thousand, one hundred"

 

 

再舉一個例子，

350 當編號來看，會唸作 "three fifty"，

若是一個數字，尤其跟錢有關的時候，會唸成 "three hundred fifty"。 (美國人常常不加   and)

 

 

 

補充小知識：1 dollar 又被稱為 a  buck；1,000 dollars 又叫做 a grand。若有收看「迷你房屋獵人」、「改建重建大作戰」這類節目的話會經常聽到喔！

 

 

 

 

 

另外，在美式英文裡數字不太會加and，英式說法會加   and。
